  • Overview

    Responsible for network capacity planning and engineering on C Spire’s Access, Transport and Core networks. Ensure that edge and distribution fiber assets are used in an efficient and scalable manner by carefully determining optimal locations and necessary densities of Ethernet aggregation, switching and multiplexing technologies. Leverage capacity management tools to proactively address capacity in the network core to support network growth from FTTH, Wireless, Enterprise and other customer IP traffic. Work closely with technical operations staff on System Design and Configuration.  Co-ordinate with Core and Backbone operations IP and Optical planning teams and advises team leaders.


    • Monitor utilization of DWDM optical network and work with optical network design team to engineer growth.
    • Accountable for ensuring the capacity of LTE EPC, LTE, IMS, CS/PS Core elements and and interconnect management.
    • Work with design, QA team and vendors to test the bottlenecks based on traffic models.
    • Collaborates with peer groups in IP, Optical, Circuit Operations to ensure network availability and reliability.
    • Monitoring of Router Interfaces traffic.
    • Ability to understand/troubleshoot call flow across end-to-end infrastructure, RAN, MPLS transport, and IMS/CS/PS core networks.


    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 7 years experience in capacity planning of Optical Transport Networks or Wireless Core Network
    • Experience with DWDM network architectures (i.e.FOADM/ROADM/PON/fixed and flex grid) and signal flow.
    • Knowledge of optical fiber technical specifications, testing and link engineering fundamentals. Experience with optical link budgeting concepts and fiber-optic link impairments, both linear and nonlinear.
    • Relevant experience in high capacity, high-channel-count, DWDM optical transmission systems.
    • Superior familiarity with telecommunications service protocol structure and testing (i.e. Ethernet/OTN/SONET/SDH/SAN).
    • Excellent knowledge with ADSL VDSL2, and GPON delivered services and experience in VOIP/SIP phone systems 
    • Proficiency on Fujitsu and Nokia optical transport platforms
    • In depth understanding of wireless IMS Core network architecture and IMS network elements.
    • End to end understanding and connectivity of the telecom nodes.
    • Understanding of cellular network traffic analysis and translations data for telephony routing.
    • Hands on Equipment experience, with proven participation of field integration activities.
    • Knowledge on Network Capacity planning, Statistics, KPI setup and reporting.
