Overview

The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing various accounting functions, including cost allocations, lease accounting, commission accounting, month-end close, account reconciliation, and department analysis. This position requires a high level of expertise and experience in financial accounting and GAAP.

Responsibilities

  • Cost Allocations: Ensure accurate and timely allocation of costs across lines of business and legal entities, maintaining detailed records and supporting documentation.
  • Lease Accounting: Manage lease accounting processes, including properly calculating and recording right of use assets, lease liabilities and lease expense, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Commission Accounting: Oversee commission accounting, including proper accrual and deferral, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards
  • Month-End Close Responsibilities: Responsible for certain month-end close processes, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and generating financial reports.
  • Account Reconciliation: Perform regular account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Department Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis of various departments, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications

  • REQUIRED
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
    • Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting.
    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • CPA or CPA eligible.
  • PREFERRED
    • Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse, while viewing computer screen, as well as a telephone. Must be able to work a flexible schedule shared by other department members including some evenings and weekends.
