As a Network Engineer, Access, you will be responsible for providing and maintaining specialized information technology solutions that impact our broadband and IPTV infrastructure. You will work across departments to implement and support FTTx/OLT network elements, helping ensure high network integrity and survivability while supporting end users and business stakeholders through documentation, troubleshooting, and project leadership. 

Responsibilities

What You Will Do 

In all of your duties, you will have a relentless, obsessive, yet disciplined approach to manage all details to perfection and deliver desired results. 

For positions at level I, your duties would include: 

  • Collaborate with departments such as Broadband Field Services, NOCC, and Call Center to support network integrity and survivability.
  • Prepare accurate timelines and costs for FTTx/OLT expansion projects.
  • Maintain PON combining plans and documentation of FTTx/OLT infrastructure.
  • Create Visio diagrams and detailed Methods of Procedure (MOP) documents.
  • Maintain accurate and timely network records.
  • Schedule and test equipment/network turn-ups and manage related projects.
  • Train personnel and share documentation across departments.
  • Remain available for network incidents or installs 24x7 as needed.
  • Support a team-based, high-performance culture.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

For positions at level II, your duties would include:

In addition to that, we require: 

For positions at level I, we require: 

  • Four-year degree in Information Sciences, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of Layer 2.
  • Proficiency in Windows, Excel, and Word.

For positions at level II, we require: 

  • Four-year degree in Information Sciences, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Layer 2 networking.
  • CCNA certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of access technologies (xDSL, DOCSIS).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate in a complex, dynamic environment.

For positions at level III, we require: 

  • Four-year degree in Information Sciences, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Layer 3 networking.
  • CCNA certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of xDSL, PON, and IP MPLS.
  • Troubleshooting experience in xDSL/PON environments.
  • Leadership potential and team influence.
  • Exceptional knowledge of optical RF theory.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate in a complex, dynamic environment.

We will give special consideration to candidates who have: 

  • CCNA or CCNP certifications.
  • Knowledge of multicast best practices.
  • Familiarity with network access and Layer 3 technologies.
  • PON experience.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions 

Must be able to sit for long periods and use computer keyboard and/or mouse while viewing computer screen. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including both standard and differential shifts.
