Overview

The Director, Product Center of Excellence plays a critical role in shaping the product management function across the organization. This leadership position is responsible for coaching, developing, and holding accountable product managers across the Home, Wireless, and C Spire Business lines to ensure adherence to best practices and product management principles. The Director will also directly manage the product research specialist and the product manager for cross-line-of-business (LOB) products. The Director, Product COE will report to the SVP, Strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Coaching and Development: Mentor and guide product managers across all three lines of business, providing the support and resources necessary for their professional growth and adherence to product management best practices.
  • Accountability: Monitor and evaluate the performance of product managers, ensuring they consistently apply product management principles and achieve their objectives.
  • Direct Management: Oversee the product research specialist and the product manager responsible for cross-LOB products, ensuring their efforts align with organizational goals and strategies.
  • Cross-LOB Collaboration: Identify products with potential market appeal across multiple lines of business and facilitate effective collaboration among product managers to leverage these opportunities.
  • Product Innovation: Drive the identification and development of new products inspired by customer needs and aligned with the company’s strategic goals. Ensure that product managers are focused on delivering innovations that meet market demands.
  • Best Practices and Processes: Develop, implement, and maintain robust product management processes and frameworks to ensure consistency and excellence across the product management function.
  • Strategic Alignment: Work with cross-functional teams to align product strategies with overall business objectives, ensuring that new product developments support the company’s goals.

Qualifications

  • REQUIRED
    • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of relevant experience is required.
    • Extensive experience in product management, with a demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams across multiple product lines required.
    • Proven leadership capabilities with the ability to inspire, coach, and hold product managers accountable while fostering a collaborative environment.
    • In-depth knowledge of product management principles, best practices, and methodologies required.
    • Strong strategic and analytical skills with a track record of translating business objectives into actionable product strategies.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels and facilitating cross-functional collaboration.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to adapt and perform in a rapidly changing work environment. Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse while viewing the computer screen.
