Responsibilities

  1. Represent C Spire in a manner that relays respect and leaves a positive impression on every customer.
  2. Complete dedication to the prevention of any damage to C Spire underground facilities and network, and all other facilities within that excavation area.
  3. Apply sound judgement and interpretation of One Call Laws and Notification systems for every issuing state.
  4. Responsible for field utility locating, locate theory, fault testing, and troubleshooting buried utilities.
  5. Utilize knowledge of OSP engineering and construction to identify documentation or installation errors that need correcting.
  6. Responsible for directing and advising contractors and internal crews related to One Call Law, C Spire Damage Prevention Policies, and cable locating practices.
  7. Act as subject matter expert while partnering with C Spire construction, splicing, installation, field services, NOCC, customer support, home services and deployment, external contract crews and other teams involved in field operations.
  8. Investigate damages and provide sufficient documentation to prove or disprove fault for damages.
  9. Responsible for presenting impromptu trainings as related to One Call Law, C Spire Damage Prevention Policies, and cable locating practices.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • REQUIRED
    • High School diploma or recognized equivalent required.
    • Must have completed some type of technical training related to Utility Line Locating.
    • Must have at least 8 years' work experience related to utility line locating, fiber optics, and outside plant construction.
    • Must have experience working within different software systems related to 811 ticketing and damage documentation.
    • Must have experience in preparing detailed investigations of damages and complaints.
    • Must have experience partnering with and serving as a technical advisor for internal and external crews/contractors.
    • Experience with 811 notification laws required.
    • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with C Spire’s customers, operators, and business owners as it relates to damage resolution.
    • Must possess interpersonal communication skills.
    • Must be able to work in high stress situations.
    • Must excel at conflict resolution.
    • Must have exceptional clerical and written communication skills.
    • Must have exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • PREFERRED
    • Experience serving in some capacity with the local 811 system strongly preferred.
    • Experience directly managing or supervising employees or contractors preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able to lift 50 lbs., Must be able to work evenings and weekends as requested. Must have no limiting physical conditions. Travel is required.
