The Application Support Engineer is the subject matter expert on all service offerings falling under the Applications Support stack at C Spire Business. The position requires working with non-support engineering teams with an emphasis on support functions with the goal of preventing/reducing customer impact from their operations.

Job Specific Responsibilities:

  • Defining, documenting, and maintaining standards across this team’s platforms.
  • Coaching lower levels of support personnel on C Spire Business’ technological standards and helping to grow their technical skill.
  • Communicate effectively across teams and with customers to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Serve in On Call Rotation.
  • Lead technical meetings and trainings as needed.
  • Occasional travel (less than 5%).
  • Other tasks as assigned or required.


Application Support Engineer I 


  • 3+ years of experience supporting or implementing IT infrastructure 
  • Good understanding and professional experience with Microsoft Windows, to include:
    • Active Directory 
    • Group Policy 
    • Remote Desktop Services 
    • DFS 
    • Public and Private DNS 
    • DHCP 
    • Network Policy Server 

Applications Support Engineer II – (In addition to Requirements for ASE I) 


  • 4+ years of experience supporting or implementing IT infrastructure 
  • Networking 
    • Understanding Common Ports 
    • Basic Understanding of Routing and Switching 
  • VMWare 
    • Foundational Understanding of Virtual Machines and Cloud Computing  
    • ESXi/vSphere 
    • SSL Certificates 

PREFERRED (All levels): 

  • Citrix 
  • XenApp 
  • XenDesktop 
  • ADC  
  • Linux 
  • Office 365 
  • Remote Monitoring and Management tools (not platform specific) 
  • Windows Management Instrumentation 
  • Desktop Support 
  • Experience in ServiceNow



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to sit for long periods and use computer keyboard and/or mouse while viewing computer screen. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule shared by other department members.
